Questions to Ask Your Fertility Doctor
About diagnosis
- What is the likely cause of our infertility?
- Are both partners fully evaluated?
- Do we need any additional tests?
About the treatment plan
- Why are you recommending this treatment?
- Are there simpler options before IVF?
- What are our success chances based on age and condition?
- How many cycles would you recommend before changing strategy?
About medications
- What are the side effects?
- How will I be monitored?
- What symptoms should I report immediately?
About IVF (if advised)
- How many eggs are expected?
- What is the plan if response is low or excessive?
- Will embryos be transferred fresh or frozen?
Questions to Ask Your Embryologist
Many patients hesitate to ask lab-related questions — but it's completely appropriate.
About fertilization
- How many eggs were mature?
- How many fertilized normally?
- Was ICSI used? Why?
About embryo development
- How many embryos reached Day 3 or Day 5?
- What was the embryo grading?
- Were any embryos frozen?
About advanced testing (if applicable)
- Was PGT recommended? Why?
- Is assisted hatching required?
- What are the lab's quality control standards?
